Roughneck Concrete Drilling & Sawing Company is a family-owned business that traces its roots to 1956.
Company president Karen Johnson, daughter of founder Ed Johnson, joined the company in 1990 and became president in 1994. She received her bachelor’s degree from DePaul University and currently lives in Glenview, Ill.
Career highlights
Johnson serves on the boards of several professional associations. She has also been honored with the following distinctions:1996: Johnson joins the Board of Governors for the Lake County Contractors Association.
1996-2003: Johnson serves on the board of the Concrete Sawing and Drilling Association.
1998: The U.S. Small Business Administration (http//:www.sba.gov) names Karen Johnson its Small Businessperson of the Year.
2000: The Women's Business Development Center (http://www.wbdc.org) names Karen Johnson its Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year.
2002-present: Johnson joins the Board of Directors for the Lake County Contractors Association.
2004-2005: Johnson serves as president of ASA Chicago.
2006-2008: Johnson is president of the Federation of Women Contractors.
